Through umpteen complex design devices, the set design successfully achieves a view for the future that is uncomplete dystopian, nor entirely utopian, yet extraordinarily positive on a revolutionary scale. Kubrik himself has never publicly discussed the ending to 2001 and admits that this was a sincerely subjective film, while umteen people claim not to have mute it at all. Many in terpretations have been made as to the real meaning of this persuasion, many incredibly diametrical and most equally plausible. Despite their differences, however, all have one and only(a) function in common: an overwhelmingly optimistic visual modality for the future. A few example interpretations include alien interference: an idea that alien engineering science has helped man develop to the ^next level^ of consciousness; to an understanding beyond the carnal realm. Others adopt the idea of the emergence of man as perfect thought completely of his avow accord.
